A long awaited update
Dear Kitty: It has been awhile since I posted here, so fortunately Kitty you are only a virtual cat. Life has been quite an adventure these past few months. I have begun a relationship, begun the search process for a congregation, and have faced the coldest winter I ever have in recent memory.
The relationship is progressing nicely. We seem to be headed in the same direction in terms of what we are wanting and desiring. And as long as that continues, I am wanting to continue forward aware that after my settlement, he will be remaining here in Chicago to complete his studies. This will take additional negotiating and working out the details of long distance.
The search process has proved to be both stressful and exciting. I have now pre-candidated at two congregations. I have enjoyed both congregations as far as I can given the experiences shared with me through the careful eyes of a search committee. There are some additional possibilities that I am wanting to explore but after my initial inquiry I now have to wait for them to respond for further dialogue. It is getting late in the game and if they do not step faster to the drum of time, they or I may not have the chance to dance together even for a few waltzes.
I am still recovering from the frozen pipes, the flooded apartment, and the re-arrangement of my things to protect them from water damage. While the weather here has warmed a bit, I am left with a decision as to what to do for the lack of heat that my landlord's provided or chose not to provide to create the situation I encountered. Do I take legal action? Do I withold rent as suggested by the tenants rights commission for the days when my apartment was in the 40's while the chicago code for winter heat is 68 degrees during the day and 66 degrees at night?
These things have kept me busy. I look forward to having some stability in my life again. Knowing that I am going to be someplace for a time longer than a year or two as I have lived these last few years of moves, several before entering seminary and several during my studies. I am looking forward to what the future holds, will I be on the east, south or west coast? Will I be in relationship beyond graduation? Que sera, sera... Blessings abound, Protected Peace
